[IC]
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:

Hugging this character: Welcome to try, he doesn't always respond well.
Kissing this character: Way to make him blush.
Flirting with this character: He might respond.
Fighting with this character: Ho boy is he up for it.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Discuss with me before anything that might incapacitate him, but with his powerset that's pretty hard to manage. Just be aware it'll take some work to do serious damage and if your character is gonna put in the effort, I'd like to be in the know beforehand.
Killing this character: Again, if your character wants to put in the effort, I'm open for plotting. But I'm selective with this.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: It'll definitely spook him. Might wanna discuss with me to see what your character will find in there.

Warnings: Bigby literally eats people. Also in canon he's been known to rip eyes out, rip throats out, rip arms off and generally be very very violent when he feels he needs to be. So all his warnings are gore-based. Also, he smokes like a chimney.

PERSONALITY:
Despite his gruff appearance and mannerisms, Bigby is a very compassionate person. He doesn’t always act on it, but he has a good sense of right and wrong and can tell when people, including himself, have overstepped a boundary. And while he was once an irredeemable criminal, it’s obvious he’s improved greatly as a person.

On the most part, Bigby keeps to himself when he can help it. Back in the day he actively sought trouble, but now since he has yet to lose the habit of starting it, he finds the best way to handle things is to be a lone wolf, and not be anywhere he doesn’t need to be. His responses are often short and to the point, and he’s very familiar with others, always speaking as if he’s known them for years.

Bigby has a very low tolerance for jerks, which some could argue is ironic for him. He is very quick to defend the weak, has absolutely no tolerance for improper treatment of women, and has a tendency to break heads when he deems it necessary to break up a fight. He has in fact been known to beat men senseless for insulting women. On the other hand, under stress his sense of when to fight goes a bit haywire, and his patience becomes a hair-trigger. While he will always insist he only uses the necessary amount of force, he's been known to rip off the arms of other mutants when he's in a bad mood.

When it comes to his work, Bigby is very skilled. His wolf senses help in finding evidence, and his deduction skills show a good deal of intelligence and reasoning skills despite his tendency for bad choices under pressure. He’s also very adept at fighting; though his foes are often much bigger than him, he is agile and thinks well on his feet, and when those fail he is at the very least tireless and ruthless.

As far as his personal relations, Bigby finds it easiest to have a few close friends that he can protect. He often distances himself by instinct, for the safety of others, but while he comes off as abrasive and rude, he is actually very loyal and caring. He shows it by protecting his friends, following their advice and, in a few cases, allowing them to bend rules.

Unfortunately his desire to show that he’s changed has made him a bit of a doormat to people he’s wronged; the brother of the two “pigs” he killed lived in his apartment for several years without paying rent because Bigby was guilted into allowing him to stay. On the other hand, Bigby has trouble laying grudges to rest himself, and people who have wronged him rarely get second chances. Instead their best chance is to get brushed off entirely, as he is very quick to anger by people who have caused him or anyone he cares about misery before. Even if he can be diplomatic with them, he’ll never pass up an offer for a death sentence.

It should also be mentioned that he’s pretty good with kids. Or rather, he likes kids. He’s more comfortable around them, and gives them all the patience they deserve where he is aggressive with adults. Unfortunately, many people don’t trust him near children due to his past, and his gruff appearance tends to make small children very uncomfortable, so misunderstandings are common. And thus he usually leaves them be.

As far as changes since he first joined the game, Bigby has gained a warmer attitude toward the inhabitants of the Institute, since they are significantly nicer to him than anyone in Mutant Town. He's developed a pack mentality toward some of his students, and is confident enough to openly express unironic, unjoking happiness in small amounts. This will double as fierce loyalty whenever the school is attacked, and... a little too much willingness to rip heads off in the name of protecting the students, oops.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

HEALING – Bigby is able to be thrown through walls, stabbed in the head and have his eyes clawed at with minimal long-term damage. Give him a few minutes and he can walk off falling two stories onto a car. Give him a few days and he can recover from getting an axe shoved through his skull, or being pumped full of bullets. Hell, he’s been cut open and filled full of rocks on a few occasions and lived through it. There are few methods short of decapitation or a silver bullet through the heart that can really kill him for good.
On that note: silver is poisonous to him, and any trace amounts in his system can seriously damage him. He’s taken a few silver bullets before and survived, but mostly because of a very skilled physician. You never know which of them will be his last.

STRENGTH – While he’s not exactly a heavyweight champion, Bigby is able to effectively fight people twice his size. Which is much easier when his wolf form is activated, even at 50%; Bigby himself has plenty of strength, but the Big Bad Wolf has plenty more. At the cost of self-control.

BIG BAD WOLF – When consumed by anger, usually out of desperation in a fight, Bigby transforms into basically a werewolf version of himself, capable and willing to use anything at his disposal to kill his targets. The Big Bad Wolf has mostly animalistic tendencies, and will continue fighting even friends until they either subdue him or are unable to fight anymore. Afterward he easily swaps back to being Bigby, and has little trouble staying calm for a good long while.

WOLF SENSES – Even outside of his wolf form, Bigby has an exceptional level of sight, smell and hearing. He can hear at the same octaves as canines and up to 10 miles away if he really concentrates. He can smell well enough to sense the mood changes of someone across the city from him. And his sight is about 100 times better than a normal human’s. Basically, he’s built to find prey. Due to his overly keen senses not being built for the city, Bigby has to smoke heavily to avoid getting a sensory overload. However, he remains attuned to the smell of people he is close to and can track them by smell throughout the area.

In canon he can also transform into a giant wolf and blow houses down with his breath, but I think he has enough power as is.

AU HISTORY: Bigby grew up in Germany, in a small village basically in the middle of nowhere. Bigby came from a litter of four, raised by a mother abandoned by her lover. His mother died of a broken heart, and Bigby became enraged at his father for this. But, without any power to defeat his father, he ended up bottling it up and unleashing his rage often on other people. On top of that, his hard childhood led to a general decision that what he wants goes, and it doesn’t particularly matter how it affects others because they won’t care how it affects him. Which became a self-fulfilled prophecy later.

Bigby’s mother and siblings had been “werewolves” like him, but his father had had control over the wind. Bigby inherited his mother’s powers, but despite urban legends he never inherited anything from his father. Due to his immediate family being all wolves and the small town carrying no obligation to stay human, Bigby spent a good portion of his childhood and into young adulthood mostly in his wolf form. It’s easier that way. Unfortunately that made controlling the power harder later in life. Also, since his mother was American, English and Wolf ended up as his first languages, and his German (along with the other European languages he knows) is choppy at best.

Bigby spent most of his young adulthood in Europe, searching around for his father until he finally found him and tried to confront him. Even with all his power, Bigby was nothing compared to his father and the effort was futile. His frustration led him to fights that forced him to move frequently around Europe, although most of his worst crimes were actually committed out of boredom or hunger.

Among Bigby’s crimes, he killed and ate two brothers living in shoddy shelters and attempted to eat the third who had a decent apartment… who ended up as a fugitive of sorts in Bigby’s apartment years later. He also tricked a little girl by eating and disguising himself as her grandma, and then eating her before nearly getting killed by a man who had come to rob them. Those are the two well-known stories about the Big Bad Wolf. Journalists at the time had assumed he was some serial killer reenacting fairytale stories, but while he grew attached to the nickname of Big Bad Wolf, he honestly was just hungry and didn't know any better.

When he became a bit too famous for his tastes, Bigby fled to America where he ran across District X, a mutant-heavy community in Manhattan, and became a lurking shadow there.

One day while hunting, Bigby came across a woman who had been captured unjustly by the police. He had come to eat policemen, but upon investigating this woman, she bravely held her shackles up for him to break. And he did. And when she became the deputy mayor’s assistant, he was given a trial to prove he had turned a new leaf.

At this point he wasn’t really sure he had, but coming to the light side of the city had a positive effect on him. A lot of his change was due in part to his rising crush on the woman he’d saved. But seeing how people could live when the law was obeyed made him rethink his morals, and before long he’d actually managed to become sheriff.

Bigby served as District X’s sheriff for several years, and while his tactics were somewhat unorthodox, and occasionally had to be covered up by officials, he did good work and did manage to make life better for the people of District X. His loyalty has been called into question a few times, but his active determination to get better is undeniable. Both the mayor and the woman he saved vouch for him as a changed man.

His main reason for joining the Institute’s staff at first was for image; he wanted to prove to the world that he had mended his ways. However, there have been many concerns about letting a known criminal teach at a school for heroes. Thus, Bigby only teaches kid in grade 11 or higher, under the assumption that they can handle themselves better if he loses control. So far there have been no incidents, so the initial rumors were starting to subside, but his absence has made them crop up again.

He also helps out a lot with security, so keeping him around has definite pros. Even if he might help… too much, once or twice.

UPDATE: Bigby left the school temporarily to help with trouble in Mutant Town, at the acting Mayor's request. Now that things have calmed down, she's encouraged him to go back since he's been missing his students and not-girlfriend.

SAMPLES

NETWORK SAMPLE:
So… this is going to be an awkward introduction.

[Enter a big scruffy man on the comm, looking pretty meek for how gruff and manly his appearance is. And then he clears his throat, and the authority kicks in.]

My name is Bigby Wolf, and I’m a combat instructor here for the older kids starting this semester. Some of you may know me as… [He hesitates a bit.] …The Big Bad Wolf. And there are a lot of rumors circling because of that, but I assure you I wouldn’t get a position here unless Professor Xavier trusted me. He especially wouldn’t let me near kids if he thought I was still…

[Eating them. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.]

Let’s see, what can I tell you… I was a sheriff until I came here, so I’ve got plenty of experience catching criminals. Even caught a few of… well, I guess around here you call ‘em supervillains. I guess you could kind of call me one of those two… or an ex-villain, at least.

[A nervous chuckle ends in him popping out a carton of Huff’n’Puffs and lighting himself a cigarette.] I understand a lot of people are going to be nervous of me, I’m not going to stop them from voicing complaints. But the class is optional, so you don’t have to be near me if you don’t want to be. For whatever reason.
